Ex-Principal’s Abuses No Longer an Issue

An unscrupulous principal used state funds he received under Milwaukee’s voucher program to buy two used Mercedes - an abuse the program’s critics keep rubbing in its advocates’ faces. Gov. Jim Doyle got his turn in his “state of the state” address when he vowed not to “allow our tax dollars to pay for a principal’s Mercedes.” He failed to mention that the principal, David Seppeh, was put out of business two summers ago thanks to new standards voucher proponents helped draft. In fact, he’s now stewing in prison for theft from the program.
