School to be Yanked from City Voucher Program

Sa'Rai and Zigler Upper Excellerated Academy will be kicked out of Milwaukee's voucher program since it never appealed a decision by state officials to remove it, according to state Department of Public Instruction spokesman Joe Donovan.
DPI officials ordered the school out of the program in May, citing possible fraud in student applications. In an interview at the time, Clifford Zigler, the school's administrator, denied the fraud.
Sa'Rai and Zigler was the fifth school removed from the program this year. Another school, Woodson Academy, appealed the decision, and will plead its case before a judge next week.
Sa'Rai and Zigler received more than $700,000 in voucher payments from the state over the last two years.
