National School Choice Week Highlights Momentum as Open Enrollment Begins for Wisconsin Families on Feb 2nd

January 30, 2025 (BROOKFIELD, Wis.) — 433 Schools to Participate in Wisconsin’s Private School Choice Programs for 2026–27

As families across the state celebrate National School Choice Week, parents are also preparing to take the next step in choosing the right school for their children. Enrollment applications for Wisconsin’s Private School Choice Programs open February 2, giving eligible families the opportunity to apply for the 2026–27 school year.

This week, more than 1000 students, parents, educators, administrators, and advocates gathered in Madison to celebrate the impact of school choice in Wisconsin and highlight the importance of educational options that meet students’ individual needs.

During National School Choice Week, the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction released an updated list of participating schools, underscoring the continued growth of the state’s parental choice programs.

For the 2026–27 school year, 433 private schools and school systems will participate in one or more of Wisconsin’s four School Choice Programs. This includes 21 schools joining a parental choice program for the first time.

 

Of the schools joining for the first time:

• · 18 schools are new to the Wisconsin Parental Choice Program (WPCP)
• · 6 schools are new to the Milwaukee Parental Choice Program (MPCP)
• · 2 schools are new to the Racine Parental Choice Program (RPCP)

(Schools may participate in more than one program.)
