Celebrating Three Kings Day

The Christmas spirit was alive and well into the New Year this weekend as Hispanics for School Choice partnered with generous sponsors to put on a Three Kings Day Celebration in the Madison area.

Three Kings Day, or Dia de Los Reyes, is a holiday often celebrated in Hispanic communities to mark the arrival of the magi to Bethlehem to bring gifts to baby Jesus. HFSC’s Three Kings Day event brought together more than 200 people for a toy giveaway that also included traditional rosca de reyes, or kings’ bread, hot chocolate, and an opportunity for children to have their picture taken with the three wise men.

Notable community members, including Fitchburg Police Chief Alfonso Morales and representatives from the Wisconsin Latino Chamber of Commerce and the Consulate of Mexico in Milwaukee helped celebrate the event.

Hispanics for School Choice works to educate and help parents navigate the education opportunities available to Wisconsin families. In addition to outreach events like this weekend’s Three Kings Day celebration, HSFC conducts an annual series of backpack drives across Wisconsin to provide school supplies to families in need and engages with community leaders in Milwaukee and across the state. Learn more about HSFC at its website.
