BROOKFIELD, WI – Last Friday night, School Choice Wisconsin was proud to host one of the nation’s most significant National School Choice Week events at Lambeau Field. Keynote speaker Governor Tommy Thompson, founding member of the school choice movement, electrified the crowd with a speech about the history of school choice and what the future of the movement holds. He pushed for a path ahead where all families have access to all of our educational options.

Wisconsin Right Now has written an account of Governor Thompson’s full speech, which you can read here.

The event included student performances by the Roncalli High School pep band, the Sheboygan Lutheran High School Chamber Choir, and the Dance Academy of Mexico from Milwaukee. Speakers also included Shaun Luehring, President of LUMIN Schools, and Vanessa Moran, who authorizes and oversees charter schools for the University of Wisconsin – Madison. Moran invited Principal Michelle Marschel onto the event stage to sign the charter school contract for West Allis’ new Athlos Academy: the school choice movement actively grew during the event, and it won’t stop here.

School Choice Wisconsin is proud of all the school choice champions that attended the event at Lambeau Field. As Governor Thompson signaled, the next phase of the fight for parental choice is beginning. We encourage everyone to learn more about your educational options here in Wisconsin and stay engaged with the work of expanding choices for parents.
